How We Verify Stylists & Keep Everyone Safe
Booking someone to do your hair — especially in your home — is built on trust. Sheahaircare verifies stylists and gives both sides simple, non-invasive safety tools so you can book, and work, with confidence.
Trust badges
You'll see one of these badges on a stylist's profile when they've earned it. We never apply a badge manually — each one is computed from real signals.
- Trusted — the stylist has earned genuine reviews from real, completed bookings by different clients. It reflects a track record, not a payment.
- ID verified — the stylist's identity has been confirmed against official records.
- Fully verified — identity, bank account, and address have all been confirmed.
If a stylist has no badge yet, it simply means they're newer to the platform — not that they're unsafe.
Keeping stylists safe too
Safety runs both ways. Stylists travel to homes, so we help them make informed decisions without collecting invasive information about you:
- Verified booking. When you're signed in to book, your booking is marked as coming from a verified account — a simple, low-friction trust signal.
- Booking history, not personal data. Stylists see privacy-respecting signals — how many bookings you've completed and whether there's a pattern of no-shows — never your personal details from other stylists.
- Two-way ratings. After an appointment, stylists can rate clients just as clients rate stylists. Ratings are aggregated; no individual stylist is ever named.
- The right to decline. A stylist can decline any booking, with no penalty, and any deposit you paid is refunded automatically.
Safety tips for home visits
When a booking is a home visit, we show both people a short safety checklist at the booking moment, and ask each to acknowledge it:
- Confirm the other person's identity before the visit begins.
- Tell a trusted contact about the appointment, including the time and place.
- Keep a phone and an emergency number within reach.
- Trust your instinct — either side can cancel if something doesn't feel right.
Bookings for children
Some stylists specialise in children's hair. A parent or guardian always makes the booking, confirms they'll be present, and acknowledges consent for the child's appointment. We record only an optional age range — never a child's personal details.
Your privacy
Everything here is designed to be non-invasive and to comply with South Africa's POPIA. We don't ask clients to upload identity documents, and the signals stylists see are aggregates — counts and ratings — not your private information.
